By Shouwei Zhou, Fujie Sun

This e-book investigates sand creation difficulties within the improvement of unconsolidated sand reservoirs and indicates novel technical strategies and enhancements to sand administration issues.

This e-book is split into six chapters: (1) geologic features of unconsolidated sand heavy oil reservoirs and proposal of sand administration know-how; (2) sand construction mechanisms and its influence on reservoir petrophysical caliber; (3) sand creation volume prediction and good productiveness overview equipment, particularly for fluid-solid coupling prediction version; (4) finishing touch expertise for sand administration; (5) sand move in good bore and floor processing; (6) the applying of sand administration expertise in China’s Bohai heavy oil field.

Readership: Petroleum reservoir engineers and construction managers worldwide.

Compiled by way of the U. S. Dept of wellbeing and fitness and Human companies, CDC/NIOSH place of work of Mine protection and overall healthiness study, this 2006 guide describes potent equipment for the keep an eye on of methane fuel in mines and tunnels. the 1st bankruptcy covers proof approximately methane very important to mine protection, comparable to the explosibility of gasoline combos.

Value of Information in the Earth Sciences: Integrating Spatial Modeling and Decision Analysis

Amassing the correct and the correct amount of knowledge is important for any decision-making method. This publication provides a unified framework for assessing the price of strength information collecting schemes via integrating spatial modelling and determination research, with a spotlight in the world sciences. The authors speak about the worth of imperfect as opposed to ideal info, and the price of overall as opposed to partial info, the place basically subsets of the information are bought.

This technique is applicable to the early stage of sand controlling of oil and water wells. 8 MPa, permeability is retained by 50% of its original value, and resistance to temperature reaches 100°C. The other features include resistance to such medium as water, oil and HCl, intolerance to mud acid and easy installation. This technique, however, requires higher cost and longer execution. Subsurface synthetic sand controlling with phenol and formaldehyde solvent is to squeeze phenol and formaldehyde and mix completely with catalyst and diesel (pore enlarge agent) by certain percentage to sand production pay.

There are a few creative results in the experiments conducted by Shell, one of which shows that massive amounts of sand will be produced in the short term when drawdown increases, while sand production will keep at a low rate when drawdown is kept constant. It indicates that sand production is greatly included by variation of pressure. Furthermore, sand production rate increases when changing oil to salt water; then, sand production rate will reduce to the lowest level shortly. Depending on various purposes, scales of simulation experiments of sand production are different.
