Jim nodded and looked around. “Look! ” He pointed behind them to a big tree 39 FOREST FIRE that seemed to be about 20 yards away. “Good,” said Paul. “The bear hasn’t seen us yet. You boys stay low and go to the tree. Climb quickly and quietly. I’ll stay here. ” Jim and Aaron bent down and slowly crept toward the tree. ” Jim’s heart was beating hard. He could hardly breathe. In a few seconds, the boys reached the tree. Jim stood on a flat rock under the tree. He gave his brother a boost, and Aaron went up the tree without a sound.
