The metallic materials that will be initially studied in a bending fatigue study will include aluminum, austenitic stainless steel and low carbon steel. PROCEDURE The bending fatigue tests that were performed were using a VSS-40H bending fatigue tester from Fatigue Dynamics (Walled Lake MI) with a shutdown controller. Bending fatigue experiments were performed by mounting a specimen into the VSS-40H tester. Cycling was started with the machine in 'bypass' mode.
