Probably at some time between 1748 and 1750 the Macklins' second child, John, was born.  In the fall they signed on with John Rich at Covent Garden.  Her only other new roles that season were Lady Cockwood in She Wou'd If She Cou'd and Viletta in She Wou'd and She Wou'd Not.  She was absent from the stage in 1753–54, except for a single appearance at the special benefit given Macklin at Drury Lane on 20 December 1753 so that he might, in a "farewell epilogue," tout his new elocutionary enterprise.
